Who is Dr. Chon?

Myoung-Gi Chon is an Associate Professor and Graduate Program Officer (GPO) at the School of Communication and Journalism, Auburn University. He is also USC Center on Public Diplomacy Fellow. As an associate editor for Asian Journal of Public Relations (AJPR) and Director of the SoliU research lab, he brings extensive expertise to his roles. Specializing in risk-crisis management, employee communication, health communication, and public diplomacy, Chon’s research has been widely published in esteemed academic journals such as Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Communication, Health Communication, and Public Relations Review. Notably, he has made significant contributions to the field through the development of various measurements, including social media activism, issues-crisis principles (RAPIDS), and allegiant communication behavior (ACB) of employees. Continually expanding his horizons, Chon is at the forefront of research, recently exploring the application of public relations theories in the dynamic realm of public diplomacy. Collaborating with the College of Nursing and Pharmacy, he has been engaged in a research project funded with a grant of about $250,000, aimed at supporting the Korean community in the state of Alabama.
